Looking to buy new tires for my 65 but not 100% positive on what size/models to get. Truck is flat black and being lowered 2.5" in front and 4" in rear. I'm just re-painting my stock 15" chevy "6 bolt 4x4 rims" to be red instead of factory grey and looking for chrome centre caps and lug nuts. My old tires were 235/75R15 and looked pretty decent on the truck but possibly a wider more aggressive tire would look better and fill out the wheel wells a little more??? curious what others have used and are you happy with it? 1. What is the maximum size tire that can fit on a stock chevy 15" 4x4 rim? 245, 255, 265? 65, 70 or 75 series? (obviously I mean 2wd tire) 2. Does BFG still make the "silvertown" white wall tire in the US? Aparently its discontinued up here in Canada. This is the only substitute I have found for the "Coker Tire" which are $375/each, north of the border any pictures of your trucks, please post em up!!! thanks
Here’s my 1960 wearing 255-70-15 rear tires on 7” rims. I’ve also had 8” rims on the back with the same size tires, and everything cleared with zero offset on the rims. It appears you may have 10” wide rims, or a deep offset, so there may be fender interference with this size tire once it’s lowered. And this is what it looked like with 8” rims and 235-70-15 tires. Again zero offset on the rims and everything cleared fine, even when heavily loaded. And here is what it looked like with 6 lug 15x8" wheels on it about 20 years ago. Again the wheels had no offset, and the tires were 235-70-15 BFG Radial T/A's.
Hey Leyland I run a 235/75/15 on stock 15x8 5 lug truck ralleys on mine also. I have thought about changing them but they just seem to look right. My truck is lowered about 1 1/2 " in the rear and about 2-2 1/2" in the front. If you have a summit catalog they have a chart for TA's that gives you the dimensions of the different tire sizes. I hope this helps....Big Tim
Thanks for posting guys, The stance of both those trucks looks great. I'm currently running the 235/75/15 tires on 8" rims and agree it does look pretty good but was considering going bigger to fill out the wheel well a little better. The 255/70/15's shown appears to be very similar to the 235/75/15, almost no difference. Has anyone got any pictures with a 265/70/15 or 285/70(or65)/15??? they look pretty sweet on other trucks but haven't seen anything mounted on a 60's C10. Fella's.... POST UP YOUR TRUCKS... lets see what you got!!!!!!
Johan, those look good. what sizes did you say they were? I'm confused, didnt' know they made a 275 tire.
