Hey all, I posted a while back when I first got the truck. http://iserver.chevyduty.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=570&forum=DCForumID5 thanks for the comments. Here are a few new pics. It's coming along. I hope to get a drop spindle disc brake conversion kit soon. The bed needs some serious help. Any ideas where to find replacement bed parts for a LWB fleetside? The truck is looking great! I have a 65 Chevy LWB Fleetside. Mine was in about the same shape. I pulled the doors, glass and the bed this weekend.
Thanks! I just broke the driver side lower ball joint this morning about 50 miles from home :'( I had to have it towed back home, I'll be working late tonight to replace the broken one and the other 3 just in case. I cant stand to not drive her!!
By the way, how hard was it to remove the windshield? I have heard of some problems with the glass breaking... I need to take mine out because the dash is rusted out at the seal so I'll have to take the windshield out to weld it up.
Removal is easy, it's the installation that's hard. From the inside, with a VERY sharp razor knife, cut the rubber around the inside permiter of the windshield. Lay some blankets or sleeping bags across the hood. Then with a friend to help on the outside, start pushing the windshield out from the inside. Start at the top and work your way all the way around. Don't be surprised if you need to trim the rubber more in some spots. Take your time and it should all come out in one piece. Installation ? New rubber gasket and take it to a professional installer... Dennis
Lower ball joints must be pressed in. You may need to have someone with access to a bench press do those. Uppers are a simple bolt in affair, after chisiling, drilling and using weapons of destruction on the factory rivits. Be sure to look at your tie-rods as well. When one of those let go it will most certinly ruin your day. ( and anyone else around you) When putting it all back together, use NEW cotter pins on all castle nuts. A 35 cent insurance policy that will prevent those critical steering components from falling apart. Dennis
Thanks for the help. I will definately take it to someone to install it. '66 C10 Fleetside LWB 350/350

RE: WHOLE NEW FLOORBOARD >Hi All, > >Does anybody know where i can get a new floor board from >offline. If u could reply ASAP I would greatly appreceate >it..thanks I'll reply to you via-email later tonight. I'm at work and away from my library of catalogs. DV
RE: WHOLE NEW FLOORBOARD I know , I said I would reply by e-mail, I lied. There are essentially two "for real" suppliers of these replacement panels. One is essentially a one-stop-shop for ALL the replacement parts you need to repair the floor. Guess what ? It's Chevy Duty. Go back to the online catalog and SEARCH by part numbers for the following; 45-931 & 45-932 Left and right floor repair panels If the rear sections under the seat to the rear of the cab are gone part numbers 45-943 & 45-944 If the floor is really bad, or even not so bad, the cab supports are probably rotted too; For the front supports part number 45-417 and the cover 45-420 Rear support is Left Rear 45-519 and the cover 45-521 Right Rear 45-520 and cover 45-522 There is one other reputable supplier but they do not have all the needed parts and you would need to come back to Chevy Duty for those. Hope this helps. Dennis
HAHAHA!! I just saw your post, man those upper ball joint rivets were murder!! Especially changing them in the dirt and in the dark with a flashlight. I did the right side a few days later and was a little more prepared for it that time. '66 C10 Fleetside LWB 350/350
