Some of you have probably checked out the guys 10,000hp tractor which has some really facinating engineering but just not my cup of tea. For my present interest grabber here is a good friends Mod A LSR (land speed record) car which is scheduled for Bonneville next August. I have offered some thoughts and ideas, probably most rejected, and will certainly offer to make it as slippery as possible. The rules are very stringent as to any body modifications so note the new piece of wood over the sun visor; the old one had been sanded to a 45 degree angle which falls under "streamlining", a no no. The head and block must be visibly stock with carburetion, exhaust, and ignition mods allowed. Note the 02 sensor in the exhaust collector for setting the Webers on the dyno. I was supposed to have my BW in the frame for size perspective but since she's 4' 9" and her shoulder is visible one can get an idea. The standing record for a stock block Model A is 97mph and hopes are to raise it to 117 mph.
Waa - hoo ! What kina cylinder head is that ? it's far from stock . I used to run A Models , I had four in fact , nice cars (and trucks) but didn't handle well and were too slow for me .
Awesome!!!!!!!!!! Love the car Evan, my lottery dream is to build a 32 with a flathead and run it at bonneville. Love to hear that engine run. I think that oil filter mounting needs a re think though. Jus my 2 bobs worth
Question Just a quickie, the chassis rails are not boxed and the roll cage mounts to what? looks almost independant. Suspension on an lsr car?
