I am interested in replacing my three on the tree with a later model 4 or 5 speed, Has anyone ever done this or know anything about it. I think someone had posted, a 5 speed out of a later model S-10 would bolt tight up without any mod's. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.......ML

I think " without any mod's" would be too good to be true.

I think you could expect needing to make changes to the drive shaft length. The bell housing may also need to be swapped out.

I have never done that swap so I can't provide details, just those things I'd look for.

I'm in the process of installing an '83 s10 5 speed trans. into my 63 1/2 ton fleetside. What I've done so far is use a clutch disc and throw out bearing for an 83 s10 with a pressure plate for my engine (64/65 pontiac 6). All I need to do now is get another driveshaft and I should be done. I'll let you know how it turns out.
