I have a copper head gasket for my 235 and i want to know if it matters which way is up when installing It seems to fit either way and does not have any marking for which side might be up any help would be great thanks ...
take pictures of both sides and post .usually the side with any stamped letters or numbers faces up. Bobby
copper gasket 235 1959 which way is up Bobby 57 thanks for the comment I will upload photos Looked at gasket throughly did not find any markings only difference in the sides are one side is shiny copper with the brass overlap lip from copper on the other side in the openings where the pistions are and the other side is not shiny and has no overlap. thanks for any help now I need to go find my camera
I believe its copper up.Give this subject a day or two.Theres a couple of guys here that i'm sure would have there suggestions on this. Bobby
Head Gasket I put them copper side up . I also like to spray a tack coat of Permatex " Kopper Kote " on both sides and allow to dry before installing . I , personally , hand snug the bolts then I torque it down is sequence in 5 ~ 10 pound increments ~ this is a trick I learned many years ago from an older Journeyman Mechanic and it has stood me in good stead over the years . I'd like to see a better picture of # 3 cylinder before you button it up .
