Hey guys. Hope all are having a good weekend. Tinkered with the truck a little bit today--just clean up. Nothing special. When I looked on the bottom side of the hood, I saw something written in black grease pencil. I've attached a photo. Can anyone tell if this might be an original factory mark or something added later? I can't make out the first letter/mark, but the second reads "Transportation". Can anyone make heads or tails out of it? Tony
If you look on my pictures there is a #25 on the fire wall where the paint came off and in another spot on the fire wall it looks like some one from the factory smeared #25 in the paint with their finger
Maybe? Could be your original paint color...Transport Blue (new for 1953, replaced Windsor Blue)??????????????????????????? Bob
These factory markings are always interesting to decipher. That's a big gold '25' on your firewall. Mine is just black grease pencil that seems to read: '15 Transport'. Not sure what it means though.
Transport Blue Here's a chart. http://www.cs.siena.edu/~lederman/t...olors/Stovebolt Tech Tip -- Paint Colors.html Bob
Not gold just surface rust where the paint came off I thought that it was just a coincidence that it looked like #25 but then I found on the pass. side firewall the other #25 smeared in the original paint....Strange
On the underside of the hood on my 54 is written as you described "transport" which I assume is because it is a transport blue truck with white top. There is some white writing around and under the voltage regulator that I cannot decipher. I plan on keeping the underhood wrting at re-paint time but would like to preserve or reproduce the firewall writing.
Here is my entry in the writing sweeps, copper for coppertone. Funny, it just looked like a scribble until I looked at it upside down
Since we are on such a roll, anyone want to try and decipher the firewall writing in the other pic that I posted?
