I meant the latch assembly. If i change out the '50 assembly for a '52 assembly and the strikers and the handles would it fit in the door/jam?
Ok, the only reason i ask is because the guy i bought the truck off of replaced the passenger side handle and assembly with a push button but i dont what its from...My goal was to make the driver side a push button as well.
Could you post a picture of the push button side? If someone can identity it there will be a rush to get some because the sagging door handle syndrome is not pretty. We have done push button conversions in the past but that was before the painting was done and before bear claw kits were available. The concave area of the door pillar the striker is in is different IIRC.
no it matches the driver side perfectly...I'll take pictures and post them here tomorrow...i take whole door, outside handle, inside handle, striker, and the best i can take of the latch assembly in the door...any others?
Do your doors have vent windows? 51 doors have turn down handles and vent windows, 52-55 1st have vents and push buttons.
Heres a picture of the door itself. An up close picture of the ext. handle. Picture of the int. handle, still the turn down style. Picture of the striker plate, still the same style. And a picture of the latch assembly from the inside of the door. Sorry the window channel is right in the middle of it, I didn't want to take it apart to take a picture, but you can still see the push lever hitting the assembly.
Someone must have cut out the vent window frame and converted it to single pane. It has the correct insides for a 52- up door. They also adapted the striker plate. Looks like good work, too bad they didn't do the other door.
Yea, thats what i was trying to figure out so I could do it. The driver side still has the classic "Slam" to close, but that pass. door is just a simple push with one finger.
