Mirror, mirror on the truck, Which are good and which ones suck? I want to replace the outside mirrors on my '60 short fleetside. It now has these huge, cheesey truck mirrors that are positioned so I can hardly see out the windows. I am thinking that smaller, low-mounted car style mirrors would look good and still provide some rear/side vision. What are you guys using? Are the original, stem mounted mirrors any good? They look like they would vibrate a lot. If you have a setup that you like, how about sending me a pic of it. Also would appreciate if you let me know where you found them. The selection I have seen in catalogs and online is extremely limited and ugly.
The site you're on now has great original style mirrors in Chrome and painted. It's where I'm getting mine from. click on online store at the top of the page and then on the left scroll down to 60-66 trucks, look under the cab parts section, click on mirrors. '66 C10 Fleetside LWB 350/350
i got the stock type mirrors on my truck, only in stainless and chrome.get a convex type mirror for the passinger side.i got mine from dixie truck.
I bought my drivers side mirror set from Chevy Duty. Now I need to buy the other one to match the drivers side. Mine is the original type mirror setup. Chrome round mirror, and chrome mirror bracket. David
I like just the round pep mirrors that goes on the top edge of the door. These look extremly sharp on 60-66 trucks. Chevy Duty has these item # 58-505 or 58-507 or 58-508. Three different styles to choose from. I suggest 58-505 and do away with any other side mirrors just have these on your truck.
which mirror you get is realy up to you, but the set im geting is from www.visionhotrod.com. there very stylist and make a big change in the apperance of you truck. 65 is my ride
Hi 65dead or alive, Wow!! Cool mirrors at that website. Maybe too rich for my daily driver but will definitely keep them in mind. Anyone looking for mirrors should check out these! Tom in Steamboat '60 Short Fleetside
I know that I'm on the wrong conference site but you might be interested anyway.I have the 1955[2nd series] and also had the same problem. The outside mirrors just looked too big for the vehicle.Even the 7 1/2"X5 1/2" did not look quite right. I went to a Pep Boy's store and purchased a set of 6 X 4 1/2" mirrors. But the only come in wide angle vision. I installed one in the passengers side and took the other to my local glass place and asked them to replace it with an ordinary mirror glass. I then installed that on the driver's side. In my opinion they look just the right size.and the passenger's wide angle works perfectly. Maybe that will work for you.
