One of the guys at the shop has a 5 cylinder Colorado that lost all power. We took it to the shop that does late model work and they immediately tested the exhaust for restriction by screwing out the O2 sensor and screwing a test gauge into the hole. It showed 10#'s which is way too high (I guess). New catylitic convertor fixed it but the gauge got the old wheels to turning on where it could be used on the old car/truck projects. I know a vacuum gauge can show exhaust problems but this is a dedicated tool so I am going to play around with one and maybe answer some long standing questions on such things as how much better is an X-Pipe compared to a balance tube and difference in various muffler designs. Might even go down to the clean shop and put in a little dyno time to see if it really is true that near zero back pressure causes a fall off in torque. I got my Christmas present early.

I can barely spell engineer, much less come up with that kind of free thinking. I'm always in awe of those who think of something 'first'. Impressive.:D

Fore the good of mankind " tan.. ta... da" . !!!!

:) Evan, a good attitude that i like and for the course of mankind (excuse me) womenkind to.

Hope the tool works well and that your help is afterwanted. As a member on the other side of the pond i just have to listen to what the outcome is of the results.:D . Your theory is relatively as moore causes can give pressure fall in the system, but is true that near zero back pressure causes a fall off in torque.Your tool wil show offcourse where damage or wear is done.

The picture shows how it goes when things are not doing that well, but there is hope because Captain Chaos helps you ," Tan ....ta ...da! Love that caracter.

    Have a great day Martinius.

Maybe you could post your results on a few of the rice rocket forums over here, fed up with driving behind a piece of imported crap with a rear exhaust box big enough for an atlantic cruise liner! Bloody Muppets!

We hate the fart cans, too. They do seem to be on the decline around here lately, must be time for another Fast and Furious movie to get them all stoked up again.
