Merry Christmas everyone. I am going to take advantage of you all and ask for any information that might assist me in shipping my wife's 2003 PT Cruiser economically from the Texas Coast to the Pacific Northwest. I can wait a couple of months until winter subsides a bit, but I would like to move the car to my son and his bride to be in Vancouver, WA. Any ideas? There are several car shippers on line that will do this one way trick for around $900. Your advise and opinions are sought. Best regards, Jim
federal Companies Big orange Semis with a black shield # 1 in the middle ,vandalized my beloved Moto when I used them then dodged any responsibility . You were warned .

I got an eye opener when I shipped my 53' from Texas to Tennessee. I went online, asked for bids. All the legitimate guys were $600-650. I kept getting an email from a company from Connecticut. Very personal stating he had a truck coming up from Texas with one open spot and he would do it for $400. When they got here the driver demanded $650 or he would drop the truck in impound. I had the quote in writing and VISA wouldn't help saying it was an estimate not a Bill. That is an industry full of scams. Even regulated by DOT. Be Careful read the contracts and make sure it says guaranteed tariff.

Road trip my suggestion (if possible) your son flys down, the two of you road trip it up, then you fly back - or stay for the wedding. That might be the last opportunity the two of you get to spend some quality time together for awhile. Probably could be achieved over a long weekend? probably a few points of common interests along the way depending upon how you plan your route. (I did this when i bought my truck on ebay and enjoyed the experience and opportunity)
Truck Shipping I have used Able (ableautotransport.com) on two occasions - once to ship my truck from northern Calif to South Carolina and again to ship from South Carolina to Arizona. Both shipments were between $900 - $1000. Dealing with the web site is fairly easy. The drivers I have dealt with have been professional and had no problems. There were no major issues to deal with and I would use them again (I last used them in 2007). R.Pennington Queen Creek, Arizona
I'm facing a similar circumstance myself. I just relocated to Virginia and need to have my truck shipped here. Driving is not an option because like most of us, it's a work in progress. Have had quotes ranging anywhere from $700- 1600. Can't remember who I used when I bought it and had it shipped from NM.
Thanks for your advice I appreciate everyone's input. I will make sure I have a firm agreement before I commit to any shipper. A couple of good ideas about driving the car, but time is limited for both groups of possible drivers. I would love to drive across the Western US just for fun. Too many irons in the fire this spring. Have a great New Year everyone! Jim
Jim, I have a friend that buys cars around the US and says FedEx is the best. http://fedex.com/us/services/customcritical/autotrans/index.html Who would have thought???? Greg
