Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and have recently began to restore a 66 Chevy Stepside and have decided to make the switch to a Turbo 400 transmission vs. the 4 on the floor. I have aquired almost all the parts to make the switch but the acctual steering column. I want to keep the shifter on the column to keep it stock looking. When I was helping a friend restore his 72 Chevy pickup, I noticed the steering columns looked very similar. Perhaps this is my imagination, but I am wondering if it is possible to use the parts off of a 67-72 Chevy Automatic steering column to put in my 66 Chevy?? If so he has a couple parts pickups I could get them off of. :D Thanks for the help and I am sure I will come up with lots more questions as the restoration continues!

    Hi Travis,

I have swapped out my old 64 column for a 72 tilt. It does not have the ignition on the column and looks factory. The entire thing took a few hours. It actually took longer to trouble shoot the column harness hookup than it did to install it!

The columns' parts are most likely NOT interchangable though.
