Something that has made me utter a few less than sunday school appropriate words has been getting the emergency brake cable housing out of it's hole in the backing plate. Trying to squeeze in the three spring prongs with just two hands is a trial. Usually use a small fuel line clamp to hold them in but when dirty and rusty that's not always successful. Solution is to take a 1" x 3/16" strap and drill a hole that is big enough to slide down the smooth part but pinches in the flared out prongs when tapped down over them. On a 9" Ford the hole size is 0.570" and I think this size is pretty much universal. The material around the hole is ground away till just a thin ring remains which is necessary to clear the backing plate. I have snapped the cable housing into the backing plate and used the tool to remove it so many times, showing off, that the hole is probably getting bigger (no comments here).

Okay, sure glad you didn't specify GOOD pictures. First pic is of the tool. Second is the E-brake housing with end clamped in vise and the prongs expanded. Third is the end snapped into an orange colored plate which is the same thickness as a backing plate, did this because the actual BP has a dip in it that wouldn't yield a good picture. Last is the tool not tapped all the way down but the prongs are already squeezed in. A tap on the end of the housing where the cable comes out will spit it right out.
