1970 chevy brakes

    Hi
    How do i remove the brake cylinder from the backing plate? It looks like a 1 1/8 nut holding it on is that it is it a left hand or right hand tread? It's on the left hand side of the truck

    I think the stud you're talking about is the pin that the shoes push against. I believe that the brake cylinder mounts with two smaller (maybe 3/8 or 1/2) under that big nut. There is one bolt one both sides of the brake line that goes into the cylinder.

    It is standard thread. Mine had a washer with locking tabs on it. Use a deep well socket and a breaker bar or an impact to get it loose. A little BP blaster might help it a little too.
