Hey guys this is a new one on me. As of last night when I turn my lights on (original style two position switch pulled all the way out) the only thing that comes on are my head lights. No tail lights, dome light, dash lights or parking lights, oh and no brake lights. When the switch is pulled halfway everything comes on but the headlight, this is normal though. But why when pulled all the way out nothing but headlights? I have trouble shooted for 6 hours, Test lighting until I can testlight no more! Can't find a short, all fuses are good. I even took back the light switch itself and replaced with an identical new one. Same deal! Has anyone ran into something similar? Details:1965 short wide bed, 350, 3 speed in column and has altenator w/external voltage regulator. What is also odd is that I have no break lights at all when switch is not pulled out (halfway nor all the way out). When I pull it out half way, and I said some of this before, I do get tail lights and break lights?? The break light thing is diffantly strange. All firewall connectors are connected properly and voltage regulator seems to be fine. Is there something I'm missing? It seems to be in the light switch I thought but then again it doesn't. I've also refered to all the manuals but no help. ???
Try checking the half moon connector that leads to your steering collumn, I was working on my wiring a while back and I noticed if I unhooked this connector the headlights would work but none of the other ones would. '66 C10 Fleetside LWB 350/350
Hello, Check your fuse for the dash lights. all oif these circuits are controlled by the same fuse and if it blows you will lose these items. ifit is no the fuse then just keep in mind that they are all on the same circuit. so you would want to look at the power side of that circuit for a concern.

Look over the column harness really well. Since you have "No" rear lights, it sounds like it has seperated from the male connector. DValentine
Check the plug under the hood on the firewall to the left of the master cylinder. This plug is the wire harness for the rear tsil lights. Also check the grounds on the rear tail light assemblies. David
I was wondering when the headlights are on and the tail lights etc...will not work will the headlights still go from bright to dim and back? never can tell , someone said something about a short ...dimmer switches also short . It could be the switch itself. Butch60stp
Hi I just went through the same sort of thing and found that I couldn't find a solution because my problem was intermittent. I found that one of the connecting wires in the column harness had loosened in the assembly. Every time I had thought I got it solved it would work loose the next time I fiddles with it. So don't just check the half moon connector, but make sure each wire is good and solidly connected within the connectors themselves. And as everyone else said start with a check of your tailight ground. I had a lot of problems with the tail lights after I painted my frame. It seems if you use any kind of rust stop with the paint it wil block conductivity unless you have a really good ground connecting screw into the frame.
