Hey Guys, I just got another cab for my 61. The only thing is, that it is a GMC and not a chevy cab. I know this doesn't make a difference. My question is, is the serial number the same as a vin number. The chevy cab has the vin tag on the door post. The GMC doesn't have a tag like this, but a large plate just above the rocker pannel, that doesn't specify a VIN number, but a serial number instead. My chevy vin number is 12 characters long, but the serial number of the gmc is only 11 long. GMC (1001PN2847A) I ran it on the americanclassic.com site. They say their vin decoder only works on chevy's, but it told me that it was from a 61, so I am wondering if the serial number is the same as a vin or not. I need to know this for the DMV switch.
