Transmission tricks

    please help with tranny tricks, On the transmission there is a pin on each side of the gear shifter, which is a ball looking thing. how do you get the pins out to take the gear shifter off the top of this 4 speed tranny original V6 1964 gmc c1000

    Ron,

    You should be able to put the trans in nuetral then push down on the "ball like looking thing" and turn it I believe to the left it will go just a little bit maybe a 1/4" or so and pop up then you can pull out the shifter. Good Luck hope this helps.

    Tranny tricks

    I pushed down but couldnt get it to move down, If anyone knows the trick on this please help. I have tried to push down and turn but got no movment.
    Maybe I need to get a 300 pound guy to push for me. Or maybe there is another way ??? help

    Without damaging the unit, the only way is, to push down & rotate clockwise.

    Try to spray some gumout around it and clean, then soak it with some penetrating oil
