i have a 79 chevy k10 i am fixing up, the heat hasnt worked since i got. i put in a new heater core, radiator , and water pump. And i still just get warm air out of it, what else would be the problem? Also my radiator keeps blowing the cap off, what is that from? thanks for the help
Rad Cap Blows Off This is prolly overheating caused my crap on ther water jacket ot heads , . Once in a wile the water pump's impeller just falls off...
Try a new cap. They do go bad. When they go bad the pressure in the system is not vented off causing the cap to blow off or fluid to be blown out of the overflow. Also you might want to replace your thermostat if you havent already. As far as the heat goes check the cables/vaccum lines that operate the dampers on your heater. They might not be working.
Heat Good point ! . The base models of these fine trucks have the hot water circulating through the heater core all the time and a blend door shunts the heat out of the cab when you don't want any , often older trucks have mouse nests etc. holding it from moving .
Yeah there's also a plastic piece attached to one of the doors that always breaks. Here it is: http://www.classicparts.com/1983-85-Diverter-Valve-Link-Connector-W-A_C/productinfo/68-248/ Post #14 shows where its at: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=431493
