I have a very complete 51 GMC 3/4 ton that needs the interior redone, and can't seem to find out what the correct interior color was, were they all the same or different? also interested in what color the seats and door panels would have been. I am also trying to figure what color the exterior was, appears to be some kind of light blue, but it was repainted at one time. The interior looks like it was a gray color but I thought they were all some Champange color. Can anyone help me or tell me where to call or ask? Thanks, Doug
Welcome! We like pics by the way so load some up of your truck, and GMC trucks are even better so especially get some pics up!!! Others may chime in on this, but you can go to the site below and dowload the 1947 - 1955 cataloge. Now go to pages 4-5 or 1-5, this should get you the info you want. Not sure though. I know you can call Jim Carters in KC and he will know for sure. http://www.jimcartertruckparts.com/Support/Catalog Zig did ya notice another GMC and 3/4 ton!!! And he has a 51 just like yours
Interior Colors Correct ; It is a gray(ish) color called " Champagne " . our Host here sells it . The seat and cardboard door panels were a nice maroon color .
Champagne is 54 and up, also suburbans. Sheen grey metallic is the interior color for pickups. It is a satin finish metallic charcoal grey, matching the darker grey in the stripes of the glovebox door. The steering column is a brownish color, matching the lighter stripes. Jim Carter sells both colors. Mix in a little single stage hardener and spray. It will not gloss, do not keep spraying.
