Finally i got an answer from advance adapters about using there Ranger overdrive. It seams that the overdrive will not fit trucks with an torque tube/closed system and that needed modifications are to many. Other posseble solutions for the closed driveline are the Saginaw 3 speed , 4 speed , T5 and the Saginaw/Patricks 4 speed conversion.

The Ranger OD goes very well together with an rear open drive line combined with the 4 speed munchie transmission. Mounting the OD in front of the tranny should be an bolt in solution on the 216 and 235 Ci engines. Facts and ratio changes figures are mentioned on Advance adapters web. site attached. New price fore the OD is 1400 US dollar wich after mine opinion is quite expencive. Spesial arangements can be made Advance says.

The rear axle has only to be shortened and balanced again when installing the combination.

My 1950 truck have an torque tube and therefore i will keep with the Saginaw 4 speed conversion and 3.55:1 rear end .

Have anyone tried to take an OD from an old english MG?
I read a lot about this OD and it sounds very simple.
I got a SM 420 from 1954 and i think i will try to mount an MG OD on it.

    Hydraulic Overdrive

The Laycock Overdrive unit is simple and robust and , IIRC , the same one as used in Volvos and by the Model 'A' guys so it's prolly a good one for unladen pickup use .
