    well I need some opinions.
I have a 66 c10, factory powerglide, windshield washer, all chrome trim, bumpers, bone stock all the way to the cig lighter element.
I will have to repair rust on the cab and front fenders which everyone knows about that, and then replace springs and some suspension parts and i want to paint her back to original....
my question is should i take the powerglide out and put a 4spd in
for better ride and mileage or stick with factory, and the factory powerglide whine in park shure sets character to me.
give me some opinions out there

Have you thought about installing an overdrive automatic transmission and disc brakes, and saving the original parts for truck value? I wouldn't even cut that driveshaft I'd get another and save that one. That way you have the convienence while you drive it, but later you can always convert it back to original for nostalgia/value purposes.

    hey cowboy....
I think another gear wouldnt hurt and I think it probably would get better mileage and maybe even perfomance.

If you have a rear gear like mine you'll definitely want the 700R4, one is in my near future I hope. I have a 3.73 rear gear and a TH350 trans. I just recently drove it from Atlanta to Miami and back. It was a great ride but I could only do 65 to 75 the entire way, 3000 to 3500 RPM. and of course with my engine at that RPM I was shaking for a few hours after each trip. :)
