can anyone tell me if the disc brake conversion kit chevy duty sells is good or how much trouble would it be to change whole front end. I'm trying to get this on my 61 thanks Ben
it would proably take a weekend to sway the front end to a new model with disc brakes. you can look at the mid seventiesand early 80s to find a set up for disc brakes. i think that those years will bolt the front crossmember in and suspension right in might need a spacer plate between the frame and suspension. I haven't done this swap so i'm kinda shooting in the dark. cowboy-
If you go with Chevy Duty's kit you can keep your Torsion bar suspension. From what I have read (Have not done it) you will have to drill two holes to bolt the later model crossmember up. I have a donor truck to rob the crossmember from but if it were not for money considerations I would much rather install a kit. Everything is new ..its a no muss no fuss kinda' deal. Butch
Thanks I just last week purchased that kit for my truck and was wondering if it would be better or what. It should arrive in the next few days. Also got the power steering adpter too. thanks CHEVYTRUCKNUT61
You will be more than happy with the results and how easy it is to install our brake kits. We sell at least 10 to 12 a week.
