Hey everybody,, Just joined the forum since i just purchased my dream truck yesterday. It's a 1958 Chevy Apache 3100 6cyl/3speed stepside. I always wanted one of these trucks and finally found one i could afford that wasn't completely gone. My question is,,what is the best way to go about getting a title for it. It was a old farm truck and the owner died years ago and the grandson had no paperwork what so ever on it. I went to the DMV and they only keep records back 10yrs and it wasn't in there system. Thanks for any info

Well that is a bummer. You could file for lost title. Take in the vin and file. I know it sound sneeky but they have no record of this old stuff. You could say you lost your title. And they will order a new one. That how I would do it. Congratz on the new truck. I got Grandas 59 after he passed. But it had a title. Fun truck to work with. Lots of reproduction parts. You can try www.stovebolt.com for more info. They are always there to help.

    Welcome

You might try looking for info on the 47-54 forum...more action, similiar issues, even if we are "older" than you. For a lost title in Washington state you take the truck in for a State Patrol inspection and they take your bill of sale info, VIN numbers and what not, and 3 years later you get a title if nothing shows up against it. Check with your local DMV. Good luck and have fun with your truck.

Oh - If you do jump forums, you will need to post some photos. ;)
