'65 Speedometer problems

    I'm having problems with the speedometer in my 1965 Chevy truck

    The odometer isen't working and the speedometer needle is "tickling" strange... see video at this link:

    Can any one tell me whats wrong and how to solve it?

    Sounds like either the cable or gear in transmission is bad or maybe you might want to lube them and the speedometer

    Pull out the cluster and tighten the speedo cable. I will do the same thing when It is loose on the tranny. Since the noise is in the cab it is most likely the back of the cluster.

    I had the same problem on my 1966 1/2 ton and I took the speedo head out and used a can of compressed air that is used on computers and very carefully blew out the backside of the speedo head especially the cup and magnet area. at the same time I pulled the inner speedo cable and lubed it with ATF. Mine jump alot more than yours at it is 99% better. hope this helps!
