I just bought a 84 half ton pickup w/ a 305. I changed the plugs and wires and now it seems to be running worse. i took to my local mechanic and he jumped my computer wires and that seemed to make it better until it cooled down! Now it seems as though it is missing unless I give it a lot of gas. I'm thinking maybe I should try a hotter plug? Anybody else with some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds Like you got a Vacuum Leak. If the engine still has an EGR Valve, I'd start there, and look for broken hoses, Loose Intake Bolts (Small-Blocks are notorious for the Center bolts backing off), or a Carb base Gasket.:D
