When I bought my 1983 Chevy pickup it had 1997 chevy p/u wheels on it. The center caps and trim rings were not installed but I didn't think it would be a big deal to slap those on- Wrong! Obviously the newer wheels have the same bolt pattern, but can someone tell me what other differences there are.Do the newer wheels go over a larger lug nut stud? I'd really like to get the center caps installed but I am at a loss as to what to do? Can anyone help?
    Thanks

The newer wheels use a lugnut with threads on the outside that the plastic covers screw onto. The nut covers actually hold the center cap on. The trim rings are also different. I tried to put one of my 86 rings in my 91 and they won't fit at all. Different depth to the wheel lip it appears. Hopes this helps.
