O.K I have checked the Motor Mounts they seem O.K I replaced the Cab mounts which helped. I balanced the tires helped a little more. But my 65 shakes so much when i get to about 60 that it pops out of 3rd gear! P.S. as long as I hold on to the shifter and go past 60 it will stop. What could it be?

Along with U joints, look at carrier bearing if you are still using a two piece drive shaft. The shifter popping out of gear is usually caused by a syncro starting to go also.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jun-25-03 AT 09:46 PM (CST)]Sorry. Syncronizer. It's they are inside the trans and keep the gears "syncronized". It was a solution to the old style of transmissions that required a double clutch method to shift gears.

In our trucks that have a granny 4 speed transmission the first gear, compound low, is not syncronized. You cannot get it in first gear unless the truck is stopped. 2 thru 4 are fully syncronized that allows normal shifts.

the vibration sounds like it could be the tranny. maybe one of the gears is bad and the syncro is bad casue that 3rd gear is bad.

The three speed is fully syncronized. Popping out of gear is a common symptom of a bad syncronizer. Is this a column shift? Popping out could also be related to a linkage adjust problem. BUT, since you have a vibration, I suspect the trans, or other driveline malfunction.
