After installing a new radiator support, and finders on my 77 gmc I've got a 1/2 to 3/4 gap from the hood to the fenders on both sides! This looks like crap! How do i fix this!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON Sep-04-03 AT 07:31 PM (CST)]The problem has to do with correctly shimming the fenders. Fenders are best done with two folks. One holding the fender in the desired location for fit, and the other determining where the shims are needed. It is time comsuming to get it right but worth the effort. Don't be afraid to oval-out some / all of the mounting holes on the fender to give you some room to adjust. Replacement fenders are never perfect and need tweaking for proper fit. Patience grasshopper. Keep at it. Dennis
In order for my doors to open I had to use 3 shims on top between doors and finders and one on bottom between doors and finders. This also lines up the doors and the finders nicely but leaves a 1/2 to 3/4 gap between finders and hood. Could there be something wrong with my doors? Or could the finders be that much off? x(
I was just wondering and you can tell me to mind my own buisness, but are you talking Fenders OR Finders here?
