Hello Ken: I’m going to finish the wood with tongue oil.(Kind of a satin finish) Spika: I noticed the fit on the strips also but I don’t think there is much that can be done about it... Cchar: Thanks for the information, I think when I get around to working on it again I will try to make the sleeves. But if all else fails I will give them a call. Well I have been working on it again! Got the rear fenders painted today! I put the grill on the other night, wow that was a challenge to say the least…but I won in the end. Started to put the insides of the doors together the other night also, but I’m having a hard time getting the drivers side to latch.. I was wondering if someone could take a picture of the bottom of the door so I can see how the metal strip attaches the rubber seal to the door? Thanks Jesse
Tong oil Is very good stuff indeed ! just be aware not to get it on your hands and toss out the brush you use to apply it ! .
progress Hello Just thought I'd put some more pictures up.. Been working on it quite a bit! Should be able to put the running boards on sometime this week. So close... I really just want to drive it!!! Let me know what you all think. Ken: Thanks for the pictures! btw you sure have one nice looking truck! Thanks Jesse
That bed looks great! Nice color and a good shine. I look at how close you are to being on the road and how far i have to go and i really envy you. You are almost there. Keep at it. Jason
That looks beautiful, Jesse! The contrast between the glossy black, shiny chrome strips, and beautifully finished wood really is outstanding. Would love to see it in person! Bet you are getting anxious to drive it and show it off...I'm about at the same point...little details take forever...but am anxious to get a chance to take it out and play!
patience - you are close Jesse - the wood and that bed look great. don't get too impatient - you are getting closer to being done and you will soon be hauling corn and hay and fence posts and all kinds of stuff back there real soon. Enjoy!
looking great! That truck looks like it has soaked up a lot of blood, sweat and tears! Enjoy it. Looks like a real head turner!
Jesse : Trust us old guys , you'll like driving it when it's done . You're a real insperation to young folks with all your hard , careful & fast work done here....
How long have you been working on this? Jesse, It sounds like you have been making quick progress. How long have you been working on it?
I got it when I was 14 and im 20 now... but I really didnt get much done on it the first 2 years... If I did another one it would go a lot faster though!
