linkage

    I put a 56' 235 in my 54 pickup. Was i wrong in assuming that the gas pedal linkage would still be the same? the old one doesnt fit anymore. even though the carb setup is the same. any suggestions or should i just cut and weld the gas pedal connector? yup, anpother newb question. any help would be great.

    I had this issue in the 53. Look in the how to assemble an ad thread.

    I learned that these 6s have different mounts for the bell crank. The 216 mount was behind the manifold. Most...or the ones I found to look at....have 2 boses to thread into. Mine only has one and it is further back, directly under the freeze plug. I had to shorted and bend the throttle linkage to fit without making it obvious...here is what I came up with...

    Yes, that is blood on the linkage, the fan bit me while installing the crank pulley...blood sweat, tears and gears!

    I have the same problem with my dual carb set-up, it takes some patience and fiddlin' to bend them around sometimes in your vice:D. Mine tends to rub on the floor boards or carpet. Makes the Toyota "Unintended Acceleration" thing seem like childs play. Only gets stuck wide open, never at idle!!:eek:

    nothing the ole hacksaw and welder couldnt accomplish... that "t" coupling is that your filter and you oil gauge? was unsure where my oil gauge was going to fit.

    Thats it.
    Be careful that the brass "T" doesn't break off in the block....it happened to me.

    Brass coupling

    Ol' Chebby: I was wondering if you could tell me where you got the brass "T" for the oil filter and oil pressure line.
    What else am I going to need for the oil filter installation besides the mounting bracket and the oil lines?
    Is there a reducer coupling, fitting or adapter between the 'T' and ther block?
    And what is needed for the other line?
    You see, right now all I have is the filter housing.
    I am about to order the lines for the filter and I know I am going to need more than just the lines and the filter.
    I just don't know what else I am going to need.

    I don't recall the size of the "T", but it should be available at local parts houses or the plumbing dept. in the hardware store. It is all pipe thread if I recall correctly. Others may chime in.
