Hi Guys I cant turn the heat off to my cab. I saw a valve installation here a few months back. It wasa vavle from NAPA and it was neatly mounted on the fender with the hoses going to it. I am looking for a p/n for this valve. I made teh mistake of trying to close the valve on the thermostat neck and now i have a leak there so I am going to go away with that and put this other valve in hopefully. I have a two hour drive to a show on Fathers Day and dont want it to be 100F in the cab when it is 80 outside. thanks Bill
I believe ccharr posted the info on the heater valve. I plan to install one on my 53 IF I ever get the time. Too much work these days. Heater valve NAPA # 660-1141 Control cable NAPA # 731-1107 John
thanks again Thanks again Charles I found the old post once I found out it was you who posted. Parts are on order from Napa and I also placed a sizeable order( Sizeable for my pocket) with our host for some other odds and ends. Im looking to go to a show this Sunday, Fathers day it is about an hour anda half drive and i dont want to be so hot in the cab but now I also dont want to lose all my coolant on the way there or back home and with the existing valve leaking that is a possibility. Bill
Worked it out well almost Charles I put the parts in and got it so the heat is off which is hte main thing for this part of the year. Ill have to make a different bracket or stand off for the valve as it hits the fender so it is right now jammed in the off position. Since i was in a jam to have the truck running this weekend it will wait till the first chilly ride back from someplace for that to get done. Bill
Bill, That is good to hear that you have it installed, hopefully that fixed your heater problem. I found out today I must have put the valve on the wrong hose so I'm going to put another valve on the other one so no damn coolant travels into the heater during the Hot months at all. Charles
