QUestion for the guru's... is a 49 GMC panel body shell the same as a 49 chevy. I know the front fenders and hood/grille are different obviousley but what about the main panel body?

Hey Ol Chebby thanks for the respnse. Is there an actual difference in the dash cutouts or just the trim that goes on with the GMC vs Chevrolet names like the radio grill?

I'd bet Ken's paycheck that the trim piece above the radio grill is the only difference. If you are worried about details, the only other would be that GMC used the tan(?) gauge cluster colors and Chevy used the black. The needles on the gauges might have been different colors, also. Oh~ GMC horn button.

Zig, the only thing I was worried about was if the dash layout was any different. I'll take Ken's paycheck and go with it as I have the chevy parts to go with it including a horn button I think. My Panel body is pretty rusty and I have a line on a gmc panel body but I wasn't sure if they were swapable. I can change the data plate and no one will know if its original chevy or gmc. Thanks for the details and Ken's check.
