I'm not finding the Stant or whomever non pressure radiator cap part number , anyone here know what it is ? . As soon as I ge the Stant / Delco / Napa / whatever part # , I'll order one up to - morrow morning for a project I'm working on . TIA ,
Re:0 Pounds Nate what would be the purpose of a 0 pounds radiator cap? Isn't pressurizing the system to raise the boiling point the whole idea behind it?
Nate, if you have an O'Reilly's flaps near you, have them order you a Murray Ultra radiator cap p/n 7003. I picked one up for my truck a couple of years ago. Took a day to get it from the central warehouse and cost $6.99.
Thanx ! Yes , having pressure raises the boiling point of plain water 3° for each pound of pressure but this is for a non truck special project . Once you've added 4 # and a 60/40 % Coolant to Distilled Water mix , boiling is pretty much not going to happen unless things get really out of hand . This project is on an older junk that doesn't overheat no matter what but is crispy & dribbles coolant so I'm wanting to try a non pressure cap . I was hoping for a Stant etc. P/N , I'll give ORielly's a go .
Stant P/N Stant 10232 is 0 PSI. Fits GM. Not sure what ur workin on, but.... Here's one at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/compatibility-chart/B000B8JU98/191-3042968-5976347?ie=UTF8&i=0
THAT's IT ! I already have one on order from my regular supplier thanx to the P/N's previously posted but this is good to know . Oddly , I couldn't find it in the Stant OnLine Catalog ...... I've now missed two days of work because of my injuries dangit . I'd like to once again say THANK YOU ALL (note clever use of CHEVROLET BLUE there) as every time I need help , I just ask and you're there for me ~ I could never repay all the good help I've gotten over the years here .
Nate, Our sponser has: Product : 78-405 Price : $4.95 in their catalog. I have been running one on my 235 for several years and all is good so far. I will not make the mistake of pressurizing my coolant system after having to re-build my heater core. I have a 3 row radiator and a std 180 degree F thermostat and it stays just below 180 (even in a Nashville summer). Take care, Terry
The original caps were zero pressure. As long as you do not exceed a 4 lb. cap you will have no worries of blowing up the original radiator or heater core. The AC RC-4 is what we use.
