58 gets a 12 bolt

    well,i ran out of options with the original diff,so (even though it will veer away from originality),i picked up a 2wd truck 12 bolt 6 lug 3.08 with posi for $200 on craigslist:D not just to get the bearings and seals replaced and spring perches rewelded.then,after installation,no more 65mph limit for me!better mpg here i come!

    good for you. The new rear is the same width? What truck did it come out of?

    thanks ccharr.and, LDO,the new rear is 1 3/4 wider from backing plate to backing plate.(58 1/4 as opposed to 56 1/2).it came out of a 1976 2wd Chevrolet c10.
