I have the aftermarked, clamp-on style turn signal assy on my 57 wich I purchased from our sponsor (attached pic). Pretty sure i have it wired correctly. Everything seems to work the way it is supposted to when the lever is moved and even the hazzards come on. However, when I press the brake while the hazzards are blinking, they pause (front and rear). Is this normal? I seem to recall that being the case when I was younger and riding around in dad's old cars....Figured I'd get the real scoop here!

    NOT Correct !

I've forgotten the correct color code but when it is properly wired , the brake light feed from the brtake light switch , goes through your T.Sig. switch to prevent this stoppage .

Look at the wiring diagram again or try searching the '47 ~ '54.1 forums as they use this same switch and have posted this question & answer many times over

    LDO,
I do remember that way back, when driving through the drivein movies, we used to turn on our hazards, and hold the brake slightly. This would stop the flashing, but make the lights slightly brighter to help see, without turning on the headlights. Help any?

    Yes it helps.
I checked all the wiring and everything seems to work properly except for that one little odd thing. My wiring harness had a wire for flasher and another for blinkers. I am thinking this turn sig assy requires wiring up a flasher unit separately but mine are part of the fuse panel.

I am thinking about going with a turn sig cup from our sponsor or maybe a new column in the future so I can prolly live with this for now. Doesnt seem to be hurting anything.

I have also read on others threads & forums that it is supposed to works like this...
The belief being that if you have your hazzards on, you would want the fella behind you to know you are stopping...
