drive train update

    Heyguys it been a while. I have 54 3100 I am want to change rear end and tranny. I have rear end out of 69 camaro with 2:73 gears, what tranny would work best with this set up. I was told this rear end was perfect for this. I also want to change front hubs to 5 lug and I was told hubs from 52-55 chevy car would fit right on my spindles, is this true. I will post some pic of my truck as soon as I figure out how.

    Hi 1Bad I have a 700r4 that I am not going to use. What are you doing for a motor? If you are going SBC this would be a good match and automatic.

    The 700 R4 would be my choice as well, but I'm using a TH350 in the Rose with similar (2.75) rear ratio, and it's 3 gears are pretty well matched for that. The 700 will give you a bit higher high end and lower low end with the extra gear, which can be nice. If you want, PM me and I'll send you an excel spreadsheet I worked up that allows you to calculate the ground speed at any rpm with these two transmissions, based on your tire diameter and rear end ratio...

    Would 700r4 auto work if I keep in 235 motor.Thats what I would like to keep in truck
