Are all 1960 Chevy customs identified with a trim package that has the piece on the top rear of the cab? I have heard that this was only in 62 and after. Is this true or are there 1960 customs that didn't come with the trim packages? ALso, I found a wrench bolted to the firewall. It looks like a double box end wrench is this a wrench for something or more than likely something that was just put there by somebody? I really appriciate your help.

    Cman.

I think if a truck is a custom it will always have the chrome
piece on the cab. That is after all the identifying mark for
the custom package. It is the only place on a custom cab where
the word custom appears. What I would like to know is what
exactly came with the custom trim? I have a 61 custom and as
far as I can tell a custom has the following: The custom cab
aluminum emblems, a different steering wheel/horn ring, a chrome
band around the windshield, and a chrome grill. Not just the
grill but the surround is chrome too. My truck has a painted
front bumper though. Maybe a chrome front bumper was not included
    in the custom package.

    Mat,

In 1960 the custom cab included a chrome radiator grille, hubcabs, window frames, black accented "Custom" scalp moldings on the rear upper quarter of the cab. The chrome from bumper was a separate option as well as the full view rear window. Inside had chrome knobs as well as a cigar lighter, and chrome Chevrolet name plates.

Hey do you have the complete custom horn ring?
I've only seen them with the "bars" broken off
on each side. I've never seen an un-broken one.

when you discribed your 61 (custom cab) you said Aluminum custom side emblems......60-63 custom cab emblems(with the bowtie at the bottom )were made of stainless steel......as was the side trim for the 60-61 custom..........64-66 custom cab emblems ( bowtie in the middle)were Aluminum. as was the side trim 62-66 Aluminum. The 60 custom was the only one the the side trim emblems (flags)had a trim piece that conected the two emblems around the back. What we call a paint divider strip....
