Anyone know it the 1991 4cyl T-5 out of an S-10 will bolt up to a 292? Found one local in good shape for a good price if it will work?

C4- If it won't work for you, let me know. Especially if its the 20% OD.

Yes, I made some notes from an article I read about the swap. There may be other types but this is what this guy said.

    1) 85'to 90' S10, 2WD, ML2 Code (in Glove box)
    2) Make sure it is a Mid-tranny, shifter mount or your shifter will be under the seat.
    3) .72% OD Ratio, not the .90%
    4) Make sure to get the mechanical speedo type, not the computerized or you can't hook up your speedo without very expensive adapter

Theres a ton of info on the right speedo gears and newer clutches but that's later.

Just talked to the guy and it's a 4 speed out of a 2.5 4cy 91 not sure that it will work at all or if it would be much help with this 292. Still going to look at it after work.

    UPDATE:

Resarching found this trans to be a S101 made by Isuzu for the 91 S10, not thinking this would be a good thing for a 292 since it was made to work with the 2.5 Think I better pass unless someone can tell me better.

Don't be scared of other vehicles compatibility with this tranny....everyone uses it, ford even. As long as the splines and bolt pattern are right. Plus the other items. 91' might have digital speedo. That big salvage yard near the speedway prolly has one.

It's not a T-5 so I'm going to pass since it's a 4 speed also and not take any chances.
