I am considering replacing the stock drum brakes with disc brakes. I have a couple of questions to those who have done this conversion. I used our hosts adapter and replaced the old brake master cylinder with modern type for a truck with disc front and drum rear, no booster, it works good with the drum brakes. Questions are, will I need a proportioning valve?, will I need to change the existing front brake lines (I installed new lines 3 years ago)? Do you recommend the new tapered bearings for the hubs? New ball bearings were installed 3 years ago.
You know that split second when you are close to a traffic light that turns yellow and you have to decide either to stop or go thru, in my case, forget the stop unless you want to stop in the intersection. Discs on the front should fix that problem.
I am sure several of you have already been there, done that. Please feel free to comment on this for me.
