power steering pump mounts for 216, 235 & 261 inline 6's UPDATED AD - 07/27/2016 2 bracket sets available for 216 and early 235 inline 6 Late 235 and 261 inline 6 with or without motor mount Both sets locate the power steering pump in the original location of the generator/alternator. The alternator is then positioned above the power steering pump. A power steering pump with a dual groove power steering pump pulley is required as well as 2 belts. The first belt, driven by the crank pulley drives both the p/s pump and water pump/cooling fan. The second belt drives the alternator using the second groove on the p/s pump pulley. A dual groove crank shaft pulley is NOT required. This kit should work however, with a dual groove crank pulley setup. It is unknown/untried whether this kit will work with a generator instead of a alternator as I have never seen if it would fit. 216 and Early 235 http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/rockfan1815/brackets for sale/102_1040.jpg Late 235 and 261 Photo by Chris Drum Both sets will come with the following - Power steering pump bracket w/ mounting hardware - Alternator bracket w/ mounting hardware and 2 head bolt studs (which are required in order to mount the bracket) - Belt adjuster brackets for both the alternator and p/s pump w/ mounting hardware The price for either set comes to $160 Shipped. This includes everything listed above. Total cost for those in Canada is $175 Shipped. Some pictures of the set I installed on my 54 235 inline 6 which would use the first set I listed. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/rockfan1815/power steering pump/100_0563.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/rockfan1815/power steering pump/100_0618.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/rockfan1815/power steering pump/100_0882.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/rockfan1815/power steering pump/100_0883.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/rockfan1815/power steering pump/100_0884.jpg
will also take trades for truck parts looking for front and side window glass for my 52. The side door glass has to be for the early years without the wing/vent windows. Also in need of a good tailgate (want one that requires no major work), bed wood, headlight buckets, rear bumper and brackets or a roll pan, 3/4 ton running boards. Let me know what you have. Thanks
Voltage output question What kind of DC Voltage is your alternator putting out, with that set-up you created? Above 13VDC? Mine is similar but you have it down clean.
Voltmeter is right around 14-15volts. I am still selling these brackets if anyone is interested. FREE SHIPPING $140 SHIPPED!!!
brackets Hey Chris, tried your e-mail address but would not work so I'll ask u here. Do u make brackets for 327 sbc w/double hump heads? If so I need them for Alt, PS and AIR. Please send pics and prices if available. Thanx! Mike
I have 1 set for the 216/early 235 and 2 sets for the later 235/261 left. After these are gone, I'm done making more for a while as I have college classes in the morning and work in the afternoon/evening which only leaves the weekend for free time and my truck is calling my name. When these 3 are gone, if you would like a set I would be more than happy to send you the drawings and some instructions on how they go together. I use this place to cut out the parts. There was a person that copied my design and was selling them on ebay for a bit more than I was asking (without head bolts, hardware and belt adjusters) but I couldn't find the listing again.
I have 1 set for the 216/Early 235 and 1 set for the Late 235/261 left. I just sent in my order to have a few more sets cut out and should receive the parts mid next week. I made a few slight changes in my designs to make it easier for me to assemble and weld the pieces together, should help with accuracy when lining the pieces up and also for a cleaner look. I also designed another bracket for the Late 235/261's that have the front driverside motor mount direcly below where the stock generator/alternator mounts. This was recently brought to my attention by a customer I sold a set to. Working with him I designed a new bracket and had it shipped as fast as possible to him. Another thing that was brought to my attention is that on some inlines the first head bolt on the drivers side (towards the radiator) is .200" inward then the rest of the head bolts. I made this change as well. If interested please PM me for contact info. I accept PayPal, money orders & checks. When using PayPal please use the Personal Tab and select Payment Owed. I do this on the side, not as a business.
this is what you get for $160 shipped ($175 for Canada). Pump bracket for the 216/early 235 shown. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/rockfan1815/brackets for sale/102_1040.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/rockfan1815/brackets for sale/102_1041.jpg
I have 2 bracket sets for a late 235/261 left. 1 set works for motors that use the front driverside engine mount and the other set is for motors that use the front mount (no engine mount on side of block). After these are gone, I will need to get more cut out. 2-3 week lead time.
I just sent my order to the local machine shop to have 6 sets cut out. Lead time is 2 weeks. About another week or 2 for me to get all the brackets welded together, etc.
Belt adjuster pics? Hello Chris, I was searching the web for PS brackets for my '62 261 in my Canadian Pontiac wagon and came across your posts. Your brackets look great. Do you have a better pic of the adjusters mounted on the motor? I have an Offy tri-power intake that will be going on the motor once the rebuild is complete and am wondering if that upper Alt bracket will work with my setup. Cannot tell for sure from pics. What do you think? Thanks in advance. Steve
