    Help please;
    I have had the rear end in my '51 chevy pu converted to a 355. Since the conversion, the trans jumps out of 3rd gear if I go 30MPH or more. Any idea what is causing this?? Thanx ahead

    Not sure what tranny you are using, but usually this just means you have to adjust your shifter on the tranny.

    The trans is the stock 3 speed column mount, which was rebuilt 4 yrs ago. I'm not sure what is meant when you say the shifter needs to be adjusted. If you hold the gear shift lever in 3rd and accelerate, you can feel the lever trying to rise up against your palm

    If you can feel a lot of movement in the shifter, it usually is a sign of a bad motor mount. Check it out before you tear into anything else.

    3rd gear

    I had a similiar problem. Do a search on PENNIWINKLE....then look for '3rd gear' on the list. Was a simple fix....might resolve your problem.

    Mine got to the point that I had to HOLD it in 3rd. Trans. shop sang a tune of $900, so I hot rodded the whole damn thing instead.

    Mine was a 4 speed on the floor with a Hurst shifter and only took a big screw driver to adjust the gates a little......hope you have my luck and not Russ's.
