Head Games

    I was wondering if i could put heads with2.02 and 1.60 valves on my sbc 283 bored .030.? or is the largest i can go a 1.95 and 1.50?

    2.02's and 1.60's are a snug fit in 4.00" bore Chevy heads. I am pretty sure that you would not be able to fit them into 283 heads. Check with a couple shops to be sure.

    I was actually researching this same concept myself because I am considering building a 283 for one of my cars, and I was trying to figure out how big of valves can fit into 283 heads. I didnt even know that 1.95's and 1.50's could fit.

    biger is not always better consider port and polishing your stock heads that will let breath alot better good luck and have fun.
