I am helping a friend who has a 66 C10 short/wide with what we think is a 250 ( we know it is not a 292 and am pretty sure it is not a 230 ). We were swaping a 1977 chevy 350 ( from a 77 camero ) into the truck and were trying to reuse the 6's motor mounts. Problem is when we line up the mount to the 6's holes on the frame the engine is too narow by about an inch or two. I didnt see any different mounts that we would have to by on ChevyDuty but wasnt sure. Are there different mounts or do we have to do something else to get the 8 to go in. Also we are trying to reuse the "3 on the tree" tranny but would rather use the tubo350 auto from the camero if we can. main problem is the motor mounts lining up. how did the 327 go into these trucks. HELP!!!!! want to do this tomorrow ( feb 8, 2004 ) if we can. Is drilling needed?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON Feb-08-04 AT 08:25 PM (CST)]try asking at www.chevytalk.com .some of them will know.
You may have to drill a couple holes in the frame to bolt the mototr mounts on. You can put the Th350 in but the cross member that the bell houseing bolts to will have to come out. then you need a cross member to put in for the auto tranny. Cowboy
Our friend Van Pershing will have all your answers. http://www.geocities.com/vapershing/perches.html Dennis p.s. Sorry for the delay in responding.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON Feb-10-04 AT 09:34 PM (CST)]We think we found the problem...the pass side mount was different and since we couldnt find a mount we put the 350 back into the camero....but thanks for the info from everyone.
