engine id

    I was given this engine and told it was a 250ci. It came from a mid to late '70s model truck. The casting # is:473483. Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Did you get all the numbers? There is usually 7 numbers on an engine casting number.:)

    Those are all the numbers, I found another engine today in the salvage yard with the same numbers on it. I'm sure I'm looking in the right place, same place where I found #'s on other inlines and was able to ID them. Go figure!

    I have the same number on my Mercruiser engine. But I'm not sure if it is a 250 or 292. I'm trying to find that out so I can order a cam for it
