intake manifold

    hey guys,

    just dropped in a 700r4 behind my little 307 small block as well as an Edelbrock Performer intake and 600 carb...only one "small" problem: I pull the oil dipstick out and I get water!! what did I do wrong??? somebody please help...

    did you forget your gaskets? ( don't laugh, my friend has done it a few times) what do you know about the manifold, is it new or used? is it the right one? there is a differnce in manifolds, you didn't get a Vortec manifold did you?
    was the engine running o.k. before you started all this? or did it act up after you changed out manifolds.
    I would pull the manifold off, carefully and look at the gaskets and make sure it didn't get bunched up when you but them on.when I put on intakes, I usually clean all the surfaces off real good, then using sealant, I position the gaskets on the heads and let them sit till they are tacky ( about 20 minutes) then put it all together.
    I would also check the manifold for cracks, if it is not in that, then I would run a compression test and see if any of the holes are low pressure, two cylinders side x side would indicate blown head gaskets. hope this helps you out. good luck.
