Finally bought a used Accel HEI distributor for my 69 C10. It has three wires coming out of it. Black, Red and brown. Anyone know the code for these ? I assume one is hot, one is the tack , but what is the other one for ?
    Thanks

Go HERE http://www.mrgasket.com/ Select Instruction Sheets and then Accel from the pull down menu. Then select the distributor in question.

The three wires hook into the distributor cap mounted coil.

    RE: HEI Distributor.

The three wires plug into your cap for your coil. Then you will need to find a 12volt lead coming from the fuse box that comes on with the key. It will have to be a constant 12 volts. It will plug into the cap also, and then if you have a tach it will also plug into the cap.

"find a 12volt lead coming from the fuse box"

That is one way. Another is to splice into the 12 volt source ( it's the pink wire on my 64 ) for the ignition switch. Use a Posi-Lock wire splicer, and it's a done deal.

I believe the pink wire is 12 gauge. That is the GM color. And you can't just tap a 12 volt source it has to energize with the ignition switch.
Take a look at my web site if you would like to see some nice pics of my 52 Chevy. Can't link direct, this site says my name is porno. It will be # out. It is a 4 letter nick name for richard followed by a dash then phantom .com. www.#####-phantom.com
