To all my experienced friends. I'm going to order my wheels in the next couple of days. Since I'm not doing power steering, I want to keep the fronts narrow, so I'm going to order 7" wide fronts, but I want to go fairly wide on the rear. I'm wondering how wide I can go on the rear. At first I was going to just order 8" wide, but wondering if 10's are too wide. Anybody out there gone this wide? I'm not prepared to alter anything, and just want a good fit with what is stock.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Woody

    Thanks Allen,
Yeah, you and me both. Much prefer the old school look. I'm trying to do all the things I wanted to do when I was a kid, but I was missing the most important thing. MONEY!!!!!!!

    Well folks,
Got my wheels yesterday from Summit :D. Decided to stick with the 8's on the rear, since I talked with a friend who has 60 series tires on 8's, and it gives a nice look. Hopefully have some pics soon showing some assembly.

What are you going to run for tires? My '65 stepside had 4x4 Chevy rally's when I bought it and 31-10.5x15's. It had zero clearance with the 55-67 stepside fender lip.

I made a lot of changes and went another direction in regards to tires and wheels but one thing you might find helpful is flatening the fender lip. I removed the fender, layed the fender lip on a 2x8 and using a 5 lb hammer massaged the fender lip from inside the fender. Sounds medieval and looks medieval while you are doing it, but it turned out well and gave me about an inch of clearance.
