Alright, finally got something worth showing. Half a rolling chassis is better than nothing, right? I've been told that my replacement front rotors should be arriving sometime before the end of time Anyway, it was a good weekend. Went to the Niftee Fiftees 2012 opening Saturday night last night, and got some serious inspiration. Bill, I think I saw your truck, but no one was around it, so didn't get the chance to meet you, but maybe next time. Woody
My truck was there. I was mostly wandering around with friends. What are you planning to use for a transmission? Is there clearance around that brake booster?
Hey Bill, Sorry I missed you. The booster is for this truck, and I don't think clearance will be an issue (hopefully). I had to relocate the pulley wheel for the parking brake, as instructed, but access to the ports are fine. The tranny is a Muncie 4 speed (M20). Bought it on Ebay, and gonna have it gone through before I install it.
Congrats on the progress, did you redrill the rear axles/hubs? or replace with a later model? I see you are going to power brakes, seems to be the path I'm taking too. Jim
Jim, Thanks for the compliment. I had the original 6 lug axles re-drilled at a local machine shop. Ony took me 2 return trips to get it right Also had a little concern about the booster pump, as it seemed to be welded wrong. Had an 1/8 gap between the main mounting bracket and the original mounting plate, but I later noticed a slight flaw in the factory weld. Lots of torgue got it right. Got my front rotors this week, so hopefully I'll have a complete rolling chassis this weekend, ready for the engine. Woody
Current plan is that Ken and I will be at the car show Saturday night. Call my cell at 713-468-6417 if you can't find us Woody.
Hey Woody, looking forward to seeing more of your build pics. Looking great! Hope to see you at the car show tomorrow! Just look for Bill's truck. Mine will be parked next to it! Now before you kick me off of the forum, know that it has a 1955 Chevy 'vette engine in it! Ken
