Can anyone help me locate the VIN stamped in the frame? The aluminum tag from the windshield pillar is gone and I'm hoping to register this truck with ID numbers from the frame but can't seem to find them. I do find other numbers on the driver side frame rail, but they don't make sense as ID numbers.
    Thank you, 63John

The numbers you find on the drivers side frame rail will probably be a letter plus numbers. The letter would be the assembly plant and the numbers are the last digets of the serial or VIN numrer. Your VIN number could be something like 3C144A000001. 3 being the model year,C being the chassis designation(conventional),14 is the series(14or15 is 1/2 ton truck. The next 4 would be the model type= pick-up. A would be the assembly plant, A for Atlanta. The rest of the numbers is the vehicle number which would be the first one built. Hope this helps. bluepete1080
