    Hi Guys,
I just put a new chrome chevy valve cover on my 235.
Does anyone know what the torqu is for the four bolts that hold the cover down? If there is a correct torque for these covers..

    Thank you,
    Scottys 54

Somewhere between stopping the leaking gasket and breaking the damn thing off.

    Ol Chebby,
That was my first guess, but I thought there might be a more mechanically correct answer somewhere out there......

    Thanks Chebby!!

My Dad always said "Tighten it until it breaks, then back off 1/8th turn." :D

It took me many years to figure out that over tightening to get it to stop leaking wasn't the right thing to do. Most of the time it made it worse.
