Good evening guys I am finally putting the window regulators and glass in the 51. Any one have any experience with our hosts plastic roller replacements. The rollers appear to be leather and are shoot. I am planning on using some white lithium grease on the rollers and workings any thoughts ? Thanks Mike 51 papy
rr I took the leather off mine and installed it without it. Just grease it up good and It'll work just fine.
More window issues Big Chevy I took your advise but when installed the window will not come level and tips to the front. The cab is off a 1948. I am not sure if I got the regulators off the 51 cab or the 48. I see that the two are different. Has anyone used the re-pops our host sells or should I be looking for the original style. The doors I found at the last swap meet in Lawrence started at $75 and went up. By the way thanks Nate the cab off the 48 grain truck fit on with only some slight mod's to the back mount. And I saved that in replacing sheet metal and doing body work. Thanks Mike 51papy
Mike, do your doors have vent windows? The regulators are different for doors with vents windows('51 thru '54) vs. the '50 and older trucks which didn't have vent windows.
Ken No vents darn-it. I used the 48 doors. The regulators from our host look to be a single piece I found some others that look like the original. Has anyone had better luck with one or the other. Mike 51papy
